Due Dates
The Tax due date is Thursday, July 2, 2009. Payments must be received in the Village Office by 5:00 pm on that date.
All current taxes, including Home Owner Grant portions, unpaid after 5:00pm on Thursday, July All current taxes, including Home Owner Grants portions, unpaid after 5pm on Thursday, July 2, 2000, will be asses a 10% Late Payment Penalty.
There is interest accruing on all taxes in arrears and delinquent at the rate of 6.5% from January 1, 2009 to April 30, 2009 and at the rate of 5.5% from May 1, 2009 to the date of the payment. This amount is due in addition to the total shown on your tax notice.
All delinquent tax amounts and their applicable interest must be paid in full by 10:00 am on Monday, September 21, 2009 or the properly must be sold for tax sale at that time.
Home Owner Grants
The Village of Fraser Lake is required to administer the Home Owner Grant program on behalf of the Province of BC. Home Owner Grants must be claimed before the due date to avoid penalties.Please read that back sections of your tax notice to see if you qualify for a Home Owner Grant. All Home Owner Grants must be claimed yearly. Home Owner Grant applications that are incomplete, unclaimed, or late will result in penalty charges. Home Owner Grants that are not claimed are considered equivalent to unpaid taxes.
Failure of an intermediary such as a financial institution, Canada Post, or lawyer to remit the application on behalf of the owner is a private matter for resolution between the parties involved and is outside the Tax Collector’s authority and responsibility.

Low-Income Home Owner Grant Supplement
The January 12, 2007 Provincial budget included additional measures to assist low-income seniors and others with a Home Owner Grant supplement. This program is administered at the Provincial level, not by the Village of Fraser Lake. For further details, visit the Provincial government website.

Account Statement
Account statements are available upon request to the property owner with no charge. Tax Information Sheets will be produced for a charge to other clients.
Village office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in Lieu of the Canada Day Stat.
Please check the top right hand section of your Tax Notice for the area marked “Mortgage Company.” If there is a name in that section (CIBC, ROYAL Bank, etc) then a copy of the notice has been sent to that Mortgage Company. If there is no name in that section and you think your Mortgage Company is paying your taxes for you, you must contact your Mortgage company as a copy or the notice has not been sent to them.
Even if the Mortgage Company is paying your taxes for you do not forget to claim the Home Owners Grant if you meet the qualifications.
